Lean how to print an engraved plate by following the few steps illustrated bellow. There are many different techniques to engrave a plate : chisel, acid,…Those techniques can be mixed. Here only chisel has been used on this copper plate.
First, you need to put ink on the engraved plate. Here is a beautiful black ink that is made to penetrate well into the hollows created by the chisel. Press the ink into the hollows. Then wipe the plate, without removing the ink stuck in the hollows of course!

Then we pull on the press. We protect the press well, we put the copper plate on it, then we put the wet paper well wedged with marks and we activate the press.

Activate the press
This is an ancient technique still used today. Each print is part of a serie and have a unique print number.
